Society is increasingly aware of the need to ventilate to prevent the spread of disease and to maintain the comfort of spaces where we spend long hours (living room, bedroom, living rooms) but also where we need good hygiene conditions and that in turn, they are usually wet areas (kitchens, bathrooms, changing rooms and gyms).
Both single-family homes and apartment blocks must have means so that their enclosures can be adequately ventilated, eliminating the pollutants that usually occur during normal use and providing a sufficient flow of outside air to ensure the extraction of contaminated or stale air.
In homes, the use of controlled mechanical ventilation (VMC), both self-regulating, hygrosensitive and double-flow, is especially relevant. Its objective is to guarantee the indoor air quality of buildings (both single-family homes and in the tertiary sector) without losing comfort and achieve maximum energy savings. Ventilation is a very good solution to avoid the appearance of viruses, humidity, mold and respiratory diseases.
Among the fans and accessories necessary for ventilation in a home and that Casals can offer you are:
Have a look to the proposals of extraction and supply fans of Casals for a house or residential use.
At the same time, energy recovery units are very interesting for indoor air quality. They are air renewal systems that take advantage of the heated indoor temperature without the entry of new air from outside involving an energy loss.
At Casals we have energy recovery solutions for all cases. With 4 models we cover spaces from a single room of 20m2 to large houses of 240m2.
See Casals heat recovery proposals for flats and houses
For larger surfaces there are also energy recovery units that work with higher flow rates. In this case we will talk about the recovery units for tertiary or commercial buildings
The calculation of the extraction flow for a single-family house will be based on the number of wet rooms (bathrooms and kitchen) and the dry ones (living room or dining room and bedrooms). The CTE (spanish technical building code) establishes minimum flows in the basic HS Health document (modified in June 2017).
Basic requirement HS3: Indoor air quality
1. The buildings shall have means so that their enclosures can be adequately ventilated, eliminating the pollutants that occur regularly during normal use of the buildings, so that a enough air flow from outside is provided and the extraction and the polluted air extraction is guaranteed.
2. To limit the risk of contamination of the indoor air of buildings and the external environment in facades and courtyards, the evacuation of combustion products from thermal installations will occur, in general, by the roof of the building, regardless of the type of fuel and of the device used, in accordance with the specific regulations on thermal installations.
